Question about Theoretic exam

Hi! First I apologize for writting in english, since my deutsch is not quite good yet!

I have a question about the Theoretic driving exam and I would appriciate any answers!

My question is: to take the theoretic exam is it required by law that you have to take all the theory lessons in a driving school? Do you have to attend all the 12 (I think) lessons or can you just learn that by yourself?
I already have a foreign license that I can no longer use in Germany and I have been here for longer than 3 years! Now I have to make a german license and I am not sure if I am obliged to take the theory lessons or not!

Hi Kenzo,

if you have missed the deadline for changing your license you have to do the same thing than a beginner in Germany.

This means:

visit the 14! (12 basic plus 2 additional for class B) classes
(these classes you have to visit even if you dont understand a single word, thats German law :-))

do the special driving lessons (12x 45min, 5x outside build-up areas, 4x highway, 3x driving by night)

the regular driving lessons depends on your knowledge and style of driving :-)
